Woodland Cemetery in Dayton Ohio
The boy accidentally fell into the canal water. His dog, playing by him, jumped into the water and tried to save him. He pulled the boy out, but not in time to save his life. The boy drowned and was buried in Woodland Cemetery. Legend has it that, several days after the burial, the dog appeared next to the boy’s grave staying by it morning, noon, and night. Visitors to the cemetery saw him and began to worry about his health. Some began leaving him bits of food. Passersby still bring small toys and other trinkets to decorate the grave marker to express their  sympathy. Some visitors put money there. A lady who walks the cemetery every day collects the money and buys something for the grave often. As you can see on his grave marker, he already has toys to play with – his harmonica, his top, his cap, his ball.

It has been said that Barking is heard in the vicinity of the grave, and the two of them are often spotted sometimes running and playing inside the perimeter fence.

A 29,000-pound rock has become a monument for writer Erma Bombeck’s grave. The massive rock was brought here by flat-bed truck from near her former home in Arizona. Her husband, Bill Bombeck, said he wanted a “piece of Phoenix” at Erma’s grave to commemorate the 25 years they spent together. This is just a small photo no big picture is available

Founded in 1841, Woodland Cemetery is one of the nation’s five oldest rural/garden cemeteries.
With Over 3,000 trees and 165 specimens of native Midwestern woody plants They grace the Arboretum’s 200 verdant acres of rolling hills.I have visited here and let me tell you it would take a good couple of days to see everything this cemetery has to offer.

It is one of the most beautiful cemeteries i've ever seen especially in the fall. Woodland Cemetery continues to perform over 600 interments a year. They say thousands of people tour the grounds of this massive cemetery each year.

I read that in 1909 cemetery lot owners were not even allowed to drive their cars on the grounds.

There are two known ghost's in woodland one is of  young blonde haired girl with a blue sweater tied around her waist who has been seen sitting on a stone crying. It is said she is crying because she is buried so far from her father in the cemetery.  She is also seen around the cemetery sitting on a bench and at night her tombstone glows eerily. It also says that she sometimes will talk to people who walk by.

The second story is about little Johnny Morehouse the boy who drowned  it is said that he has been seen at dusk running and playing with his dog in the cemetery, also you can hear the dog barking in the vicinity of the grave. There's also this strange legend if you put your hand up to the dogs nostrils you can feel it breathing.
