Hilton Hotel Cincinnati Ohio
The Hilton in Cincinnati Netherland Plaza in Cincinnati, Ohio  is a historic hotel rumored to have a ghost haunting the premises. The ghost is known as the "Lady in Green" who wanders the ornately decorated hotel looking for her husband.

Ghost Stories

The "Lady in Green" has been seen walking the Hall of Mirrors and Mezzanine level of the Hilton  Netherland Plaza in Ohio. Several construction workers reported seeing the "Lady in Green" during the hotel's renovation in 1983.

The legend is that the Lady's husband, who was a hotel laborer, was killed during hotel construction. The body of the husband was never found. The "Lady in Green" is believed to be spending her time looking for him as she wanders through the elegant hotel.

The Buxton Inn, Granville, Ohio
Major Buxton from of whom the inn takes its name operated the inn from 1865 to 1905. His picture hangs in the lobby of the inn to this day. You see the inn seems to be mostly haunted by the spirits of former owners.

Major Buxton has been seen as a shadowy figure in various parts of the house. Some staff members have seen him sitting in a chair near the fire place in the dining room. Guest warming their hands by the fire have seen a ghostly disembodied set of hands appear next to theirs.

The ghost of Ethel (Bonnie) Bounell also haunts the site. She operated the inn from 1934 to 1960. Her favorite color was blue, and she died in room #9. She has been seen in various parts of the inn dressed in her favorite color, and at different ages of her life. Rooms #7 and #9 seem to be the best place to encounter her though.

The basement where the drivers ate and slept is also an area of paranormal activity. Staff have reported feeling something in the room with them after hours. They have also heard footsteps above when the inn was empty. Knocks have been heard on the front door that when opened by the staff reveals no one there. Once the front door was heard to open of its own violation and then close. Heavy foot steps ascended the stairs, then came back down. Once again the front door opened and closed by itself. A ghostly cat has been felt by guest staying in room #9 as well. This is perhaps the gray cat that graces the sign of the inn.

August 4, 1892. A wealthy businessman and his wife are found brutally murdered in their Victorian home in Fall River, Massachusetts. The Accused: the youngest daughter, Lizzie. The Verdict: Not Guilty!

So goes the lore of the most famous crime in the annals of American history. The mystery remains: If  Lizzie Borden did not wield the murder weapon, who did?

Investigation

"Inspection of the victims discloses that Mrs. Borden had been slain by the use of some sharp and terrible instrument, inflicting upon her head eighteen blows, thirteen of them crushing through the skull; and below stairs, lying upon the sofa, was Mr. Borden's dead and mutilated body, with eleven strokes upon the head, four of them crushing the skull."

During the police investigation, a hatchet was found in the basement and was assumed to be the murder weapon. Though it was clean, most of its handle was missing and the prosecution stated that it had been broken off because it was covered with blood. However, police officer Michael Mullaly stated that he found it next to a hatchet handle. Deputy Marshall John Fleet contradicted this testimony. Later a forensics expert said there was no time for the hatchet to be cleaned after the murder.
No blood-soaked clothing was found as evidence by police. A few days after the murder, Borden tore apart and burned a light blue Bedford cord cotton dress in the kitchen stove, claiming she had brushed against fresh baseboard paint which had smeared on it.
